    Pros

It seems sort of silly to say I love the people, since there are wonderful (and terrible) people everywhere, no affair where you work, but I as well believe that as a pet store, PetSmart is a very pet-oriented (and pet-people-oriented!) visitor, and attracts pet lovers (who tend to be a step above the rest, anyway). I also dearest that everything associated with the PetSmart make is legitimate: I shop for my animals at the store, I accept them to the vet at Banfield Pet Hospital, I donate to their charities, and I beloved their in-store brands for my pets! As a part-fourth dimension employee of PetSmart, I do non receive health benefits for myself, but I practice receive a discount in any PetSmart store, and a discount on Banfield services. They practise offering life insurance through MetLife, though I haven't taken reward of that. I will say that the corporate office is also hugely supportive and easy to work with, at least in my experiences with my medical leave and store transfers.

    Cons

I honestly haven't had many challenges that would exist solely limited to PetSmart. My only complaint would be the company'south reluctance to hire total-time employees in positions other than manager. I would love to work for this company on a total-fourth dimension basis. The only reason I didn't requite PetSmart 5 stars is that I cannot comment on the benefits given to full-time employees.

    Pros

Weekends were the all-time for socializing with pet parents, adoption shelters, vendors, and events. I enjoyed teaching my ain manner and keeping up with progress of my canine students.

    Cons

Urine and crap picker upper. Cart fetcher. Fish bagger. Carry outer. This break this luncheon. Cover annals while me and this employee go socialize in the function. "Ginuea Squealer" was basically your championship. Your only time to sell classes (which is your compensation) is on Saturdays and Sunday's (if you weren't brusque staffed). Expect role time and to only work iii-4 hours on the day you lot have classes. Managers and three+ year employees are but ones close to full time (33-36) overtime is impossible with this company unless your assistant or general management. I up sell for this company plenty to pay my wages x fold and I'chiliad re-payed with less than 20 hours a week and simply 2 or 3 hours of that fourth dimension to meet a quota of 6 to 10 classes per week per trainer. Training cirriculum was a joke. Thankfully my area trainer realized this too and we did much amend off without petsmarts "proven cirriculum"

    Pros

Education and testing in the realm of becoming a domestic dog trainer. I got the benefit of the doubt in calorie-free of my high caliber effort. Charities helped my mother's rescue. The staff is an undervalued and kick butt group, fabricated bang-up friends. All tasks are much more fun given the dogs and other animals that you get to run across.

    Cons

The minimalist shifts and terrible hours, very very low pay increases, and consummate disconnect from wage&hours to that of the district manager. 3 hour shifts half-dozen days a week does not pay the bills, but yous really experience similar ur working a lot just to go thro the motions. No back up in making commissions. Cut back the drama factor, don't exist equally fraud to fire people rather than let them stay until you force them out cutting their hours etc, then just burn down them it's distressing seeing what ppl put upwardly with and having to then work with them!

    Pros

Working with animals Working with animal people Bringing your domestic dog to piece of work (as a demo dog as a pet training) Employee disbelieve (especially with Banfield services!) Staying on top of the pet food and toy globe Meeting various pet food vendor representatives and getting the downward and dirty on pet food ingredients straight from the equus caballus's mouth

    Cons

Poor management makes day to day routines more than complicated than necessary Lack of total time availability Competitive temper regarding selling pet training classes and making a few bucks over concentrating on offering people a useful and vital service Lack of storage space/organization for downtime paperwork and classroom management Management frequently lacked general knowledge of bones requirements of time and infinite necessary for teaching...the fourth dimension slot one is actively teaching is simply the tip of the iceberg in proficient teaching and pupil follow upwardly (particularly when part of said follow up is a prophylactic check for all involved parties)

    Pros

-I loved working with the people and the animals, yeah some of the people were less than savory but it'due south a retail environment no thing what position you are, you volition meet them -Information technology's a very rewarding task, at least from a service or pet care betoken of view. You lot do your job and it shows such a difference it actually makes you feel like y'all did something. -Most stores have a wonderful employee environs -The overall environs for new hires are wonderful.

    Cons

-There are some stores and employees that seem to accept been "forgotten" -The hours are sparse, even for full time employees corporate does non assign plenty hours for a shop (especially a failing one) to complete even solar day to day activities. -Training is lackadaisical in some stores, and non consistent particularly with the constant p&p changes. -Commune or regional managers practise not seem to put much endeavor into their stores

  6. Pros

You make your own schedule depending on what class times and days you think you can sell. You get holidays off for the about office because no ane wants to come to class on holidays. You get a calendar month of training and then start pedagogy immediately so it gives you a good start specially if yous want to train using positive reinforcement techniques.

    Cons

You stop upwardly working every weekend because those are prime times for classes. You have to exist skilful at selling classes, otherwise you'll just make your hourly charge per unit and no committee. The commission you do make is just 25% but it can add together up quick if you lot're a good seller.

  7. Pros

Having the opportunity to work with lots of dogs and pet parents, and assistance to improve their lives.

    Cons

I could write a book! Unqualified managers with poor communications and leadership skills; borderline and worse associates allowed to proceed working, with no training or correction to result in better performance; a consummate lack of recognition and positive reinforcement; lack of support; mistreatment of assembly and managers by superiors; lack of accountability; a substantial lack of work ethic - the list is endless! Personally, I was mistreated by my starting time store manager, who retaliated against me after I complained of outrageous conduct by an area pet trainer - someone the manager herself was previously warned about! the mistreatment continued for years and I was never allowed to advance. The company terminated the positions of over 2000 trainers in February, "allowing" us to continue as cashiers. I recently resigned and feel absolutely WONDERFUL about doing so.

    Pros

They have a great training program for the Pet Preparation Instructors. The management is very caring nearly your desires and golas and they promote from with-in.

    Cons

As a trainer you have to planyour time off at least 6 weeks in advance in order to compensate for classes and such. If yous miss a class information technology reflects poorly on the company so they are strict on this policy. This became a problem for me when I had to change my piece of work schedule because of my school.
